Scandalous Paying for Sanctuary on board!!

Booking a cruise for many of us is a time where we want to escape from our daily routine , and transport ourselves to the Sanctuary we seek, but unfortunately this comes at a price! A price I have to say not included in the cost of your cruise.

Princess Cruises have announced that they will now be doubling the cost of booking into The Sanctuary! This is an Adults Only sun deck , which geared towards peaceful relaxation, with spa like facilities and refreshing drinks has set a trend with other cruise lines, but do you think it should come at a cost .

There are occasions where , especially on sea days that we require a little peace and quiet , maybe to take ourselves into the unknown of the latest novel or enjoying a relaxing massage, without the noise of the Movie Under the stars or constant laughing and chatter of our fellow cruise mates, but doubling the costs of entry into such tranquillity may be going a tad too far!

Charging $20 for half a day pass and $40 for a full day pass apparently is to help control demand. I guess in their defence they are happy to reduce their costs if the demand is not there depending on itineraries and ports of call. On the upside although drinks from the Sanctuarys exclusive menu still carry an added fee they have decided to no longer charge for Evian Misters. Mmmm without showing my sense of sarcasm, thankyou Princess.

Unfortunately they are not on their own other cruise lines also follow in the same way and can charge from $15 to $100 for the peace and quiet we sometimes crave.

I was on Carnival last year and spent most of my days in Serenity, picture below, again another adults only area with the plush sunbeds and calming waterfalls but have to say was completely free. If you are like me and occasionally crave peace and quiet do you think we should pay double for something we should appreciate as part of our holiday, Should entrance into these areas be on a first come first serve basis or are you happy to pay for such tranquillity.

Please fell free to let me know what you think . Personally I am happy to pay a small fee but I genuinely think the charges now are overpriced! I look forward to your views!
