NCL IN REGENT SEVEN SEAS TAKEOVER

Word has it that Norwegian Cruise Lines has put in a bid for Prestige Cruises, the company that operates luxury cruiselines Regent Seven Seas and Oceania. The deal is said to be worth a staggering $3 billion. Although nothing official has been reported from either NCl or Prestige, word has it that a deal may happen within days.

I guess its only been a matter of time for NCL as if you look at her competitors eg The Carnival Group and Royal Caribbean Cruises, they both have a luxury brand of cruising under their belt eg Holland America and Azamara. We have seen a huge increase in Luxury Cruising this year and I guess its fair to say that NCL want a piece of the action.

Regent have three cruise ships already with a fourth on order, called Seven Seas Explorer she is due to be released in 2016, named as the most luxurious ship in the world, the Explorer will accommodate 738 guests at 54000 tons.

Oceania offer 5  sophisticated and elegant ships, all mid sized and known for unique and destination rich itineraries and are all award winning  carrying a total of 4500 passengers to 330 ports world wide.

So if this deal was to go ahead, NCL will have another string to their bow , they are already half way there though as they do offer gold plated facials , as long as they don’t start offering gold plated waterslides as that is a definite no.  Seriously though I will keep you updated. Holly xxx
