Celebrity Eclipse – My ship of the Year

It is no wonder that the Celebrity Eclipse has won so many awards recently , after spending two nights on board after her multi million dollar makeover you can see why she really is deserving of so many accolades.

I booked on Eclipse for the 2 night sailing on the 7th May, Aqua Class , deck 11 in cabin 1610 . First time on Eclipse herself and first time in Aqua Class, I was looking forward to seeing whether the benefits of Aqua Class lived up to the hype and extra money of course. Well I was wrong to doubt as when we arrived at City Terminal behind a busy sea of faces,  a member of staff approached us to see what cabin we were staying in and then escorted us straight to check in where ten minutes later we were on board and handed a welcome glass of champers. Aqua Class was already a sure fire winner in my eyes after this.

The cabins on board Eclipse whether balcony , concierge or Aqua are all the same size, its the added benefits and nice touches you pay extra for that comes with Aqua Class so great for a pampering or special occasion or like me if you just want to treat yourselves.

ALL AQUA CLASS BALCONIES ARE LOCATED IN QUIETER AND PEACEFUL AREAS OF THE SHIP AND I LOVED THE SIZE OF THE BALCONIES DEFINITELY A PLUS FOR ME

Hansgrohe^® shower panel and a Fog Free Mirror in Aqua Class bathrooms and I have to say these showers are absolutely amazing its like having a full on spa treatment and massage all in one

You also have complimentary access to BLU a speciality restaurant for Aqua Class guests where you can eat whenever you wish at breakfast and dinner. I ate in here on Thursday evening and I really liked the restaurant and the food and the company of course but personally the restaurant lacked the atmosphere that you found easily in the main dining room Moonlight Sonata.  It was a nice touch and the food was stunning in Blu. In fact the food was stunning everywhere on board as my waistline now confirms. So was Aqua Class worth it, if you wish to treat yourselves then yes, definitely I would book Aqua but if the increase in cost is more than your budget allows you will have just a great time in a Concierge or Balcony.

Once checked in we headed to the Mast Bar on deck 14 where great music played and we could take much advantage of the Classic drinks Package included in the cost. We never had a problem with drinks not being included in the Package. Gin and Tonics, Corona Lager, Vodka and Coke and many many cocktails were all readily available at no extra cost.

I was luck enough with colleagues to be invited on a tour of the ship which finally gave me a chance to see the new features and exactly why the Eclipse is an award winner and I wasn’t disappointed. Eclipse definitely had the Wow factor but did this with grace and elegance. I hope you like the pictures.

THIS REVIEW WOULDN’T BE COMPLETE WITHOUT THE MARTINI BAR, WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE AND THE BAR STAFF WERE GREAT, NOT A VENUE TO COME TO IF YOU ARE IN A RUSH OR DESPERATE FOR A DRINK ITS LIKE AN EXPERIENCE IN ITSELF TO DRINK HERE.

I was on board the Eclipse and I genuinely have to say I didn’t want to come off. 2 nights was never going to be enough to experience this stunning ship. The atmosphere on board whether you were dining , in the bar, ( not the Molecular one as this has been removed and exchanged by the World Class Bar) by the pool, in the spa, was really amazing and I was also surprised at how many relaxing areas you can find. Always somewhere to relax with friends or just to find some peace and quiet with views of the ocean, everywhere you went on eclipse you found a little piece of heaven.

I cant honestly say Eclipse  was totally 5 star in my view but not far off, and maybe needed a few more staff in many of the bar areas, as even buying a coffee at the Lawn Club seemed like forever. But you could also say that this reflects the pace on board nice easy and full of relaxation with lots of fun and surprises along the way.
