Tank Talk!

LobsterSo tonight , a rare night without the children , my wife and I tried something a bit different. A tank talk night at The famous Burger and Lobster in Cardiff City Centre. Every Wednesday throughout March the Burger and Lobster team were hosting Tank Talk events, giving us the rare opportunity to learn all about lobsters and the careful processes the restaurant goes through to get their Lobster to their customers in the freshest and best possible condition, keeping them happy every step of the way. We also found out what it takes to make the finest burgers and have a chance to sample everything on the menu. Is lobster your lifelong partner, or are you more of a burger buff? – We were definitely team Lobster, the Lobster Roll was Epic! We were even shown the poor fella that was about to become my dinner!

The idea of the Night is for people to try something new, certainly different to our usual cinema or steak night. We loved it and will definitely return! This brings me nicely to cruising, do you try new things on your cruise, many ships allow us to try things such as Lobster and gigantic prawns you wouldn’t find in Tesco. Or do you still play safe on holiday? I certainly make the most of trying new things when or a cruise or holiday abroad.

I’ve always thought of travelling as a time to be adventurous. It is a time to try new things and step outside of our comfort zones. You only live once, Lobster2right? Might as well do something you wouldn’t do at home. When my family and I go cruising, that rule applies even more so when it comes to food. Since most dining experiences are included with the trip, I enjoy trying the ‘new to me’ foods and challenging others in my family to do the same. From Frogs Legs to Sword Fish , its fun to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things. Most people think of being adventurous on holiday as swimming with sharks, scuba diving or bungee jumping. My definition of adventurous involves – what’s on the menu tonight?!

My kids even try new things, and I push them too, we worry about the waste or expense at home , but holiday is holiday and its a time for creating memories and learning new likes and loves.  My 12 year old has turned into a little foodie. He’s an amazing eater who loves good and unusual seafood’s. It was actually cruise ships that got him into it. He couldn’t wait to eat grown up fancy foods and there is no risk about trying things on a cruise ship.

Do you agree? Do you stick to the same fish and chips when away, miss your Sunday roast or do you get stuck in and try something new? What happens if you, or someone you are cruising with (such as a young child) is a picky eater and hates trying new foods? Then a cruise is perfect due to the amount of choice. Let me know what you think, my email address as always is [email protected]
