An Apple a Day Could Help with the Sway!

Have you ever wandered around a cruise ship and seen random bowls of Green Apples and thought anything of it? I did when I was on a cruise with Celebrity. We had booked to stay in a Sky Suite on the Celebrity Eclipse and first impressions of the cabin were great and then I noticed a bowl on a table which was well stocked with Lovely looking Green Apples. I thought that’s nice although I did feel a tinge of dissapointment as I was hoping for some chocolate covered strawberries with booking a suite.

My Nice Green Apples on Arrival!

We had a butler and when he came to introduce himself I asked why the bowl of Green Apples and was amazed at his reply. He told me the apples were to eat if we felt at all seasick. Now anyone who knows me would tell you I like to do the odd little wind up so I had to just ask was he being serious which he was.

Ever since then I have always told people as one of Harry’s little tips is if you feel at all seasick go and get yourself a Green apple and soon enough you will be fine. On my most recent cruise with Princess I actually found this to be the case. We had woken up to find the seas quite choppy and when we went for breakfast two of us looked a little pale to say the least. The waiter asked what everybody wanted and when two said they could not eat anything when the waiter brought over our food he also brought to plates of Green Apple cut into pieces. One person ate the apple and within 20-30 minutes seemed so much brighter in himself but the other who was wearing wristbands to help with the motion did not and still seemed ill for the best part of the day.

I always like to have fact to back me up on something like this as I’m not really one for the old wives tales but have to say I have googled this to try and find scientific proof but I cant. What I can see is that the same thing has been featured several times and has also featured in quite a lot of forum discussions and a lot people seem to back my little tip up.

Have you ever heard the same and do you know how and why it works if so I would love to hear from you. Or do you have any other tips that work for you, I hear ginger is also recommended but don’t know to much about that.

So for now I will leave you with this little saying “An Apple a Day keeps Seasick Away”
