Viking Helvetica, a great ship for a Rhine river cruise.

Some of my customers will remember that I posted tips about river cruises in Europe some time ago so I thought it was about time I did a few more. I often talk to clients who have just returned from a River Cruise saying almost how ‘refreshing’ this type of cruising is. Small boats, so you get connected to other passengers, great service, less hustle bustle, and certainly more fabulous scenery than on those 4000+ passenger cruise ships.

I recently had  very positive feedback about Viking River Cruises from a client, the Amsterdam to Basel cruise on the Viking Helvetica they did last year.

The Viking Helvetica was designed to provide optimal scenery viewing and deluxe cruising comfort. She features Scandinavian-designed interiors, the amenities of a fine hotel, and an English-speaking crew.

Ship features include:
Lounge and bar with panoramic windows
Library and souvenir shop
Elevator from upper deck to promenade deck (reception)
Chair lift from promenade deck (reception) to sun deck
Internet available
Laundry service

I had a look and noticed this very nice 8 night trip which can be booked for this year for the following departure dates: Jun 12, Jun 26, Jul 10, Jul 24, Aug 7, Aug 21, Sep 4, Sep 18, Oct 2, Oct 16, Oct 30, Nov 13, Nov 27, Dec 11, Dec 27.
Starting in Amsterdam with stops in Kinderdijk, Cologne, Rudesheim, Speyer, Strasbourg, Breisach, Basel

You can also sail the reverse order on the following dates:
Jun 19, Jul 3, Jul 17, Jul 31, Aug 14, Aug 28, Sep 11, Sep 25, Oct 9, Oct 23, Nov 6, Nov 20, Dec 4
Starting in Basel with stops in Breisach, Strasbourg, Rudesheim, Koblenz, Cologne, Kinderdijk, Amsterdam.
Prices for River Cruises are very competative and include return flights and transfers. Many river cruises also include all walking tours in the cost too.

There is a high demand for cabins and availibility is limited now so let me know as soon as possible if you think this type of cruise might interest you. Extra high demand is for the December sailings, as you get all the German Christmas markets for free. I visited the German Markets of Northern Europe last December with my family and we had a super time. I would recommend them to anyone – but wrap up warm!
