So, that was the Christmas that was…………

As I sit here and write this, I’m not entirely sure where the past week has gone. It’s just been a blur. Here we are with New Years Eve upon us already and Christmas seems such a long time ago.
Christmas in the Wilson household was a great day which I was lucky enough to share with my parents and my three teenagers. I felt a bit jaded to start with as we had friends round for drinks on Christmas Eve, but I soon got into the swing of things on Christmas morning.

One of the great things about having teenagers is that they no longer get me out of bed in the early hours to see if ‘he has been’, infact it was 9.30am when the first one appeared downstairs which meant I could do all the preparations for Christmas lunch before they got up.

My middle son Rhys, who recently passed his driving test, was taxi driver for my parents so that they didn’t have to drive. He is more than willing to drive anyone anywhere at the moment, but a small fee is usually payable!
Everyone was thrilled with the gifts that Santa had delivered, but as usual it was a small relatively cheap stocking filler that was most popular. My daughter spent the whole day in her ‘Onesy’ from Primark! Mind you, she did wear it with her new chocolate brown Ugg boots to complete the look!

Chrsitmas lunch went down a storm and as usual we all ate far too much. Grandmas home made Christmas Pudding was the best yet. This was all rounded off by reindeer racing on the dining room table – I came last of course, and then we had coffee and liquer chocolates bought in Hamburg on our recent cruise on the Balmoral. Unfortunately I forgot to put the lid on the chocolates and at a rough guess our Jack Russell ate three or four of them. She spent the entire evening comatose in an armchair – such a naughty little dog!! Fortunately, it didn’t have the same repercussions as the christmas pud that she ate last year – no more said!

Having spent some time trying to encase Grandma in a giant bubble (well what else can you do with grandparents), the day was rounded off watching Poirot and drinking Baileys – way to go!!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas too. No doubt I will be speaking to many of you soon, and I look forward to hearing all about it.
