Silver Shadow – Simply Superb!

It’s been a while since I went on a trip to experience a different cruise line, but this time the wait was most definitely worth it. I spent a few days on the Silver Shadow over the weekend, my first time on Silversea, and if I am honest, I could not fault a thing. The Silversea experience was everything I hope it would be and more, so much more.

I don’t know what your impression is of 6* cruise lines, flashy and blingy decor, staff fawning all over you, lots of very posh, high maintenance guests? Honestly, this couldn’t be further from the truth. The ship was lovely, very subtle in design and style, very comfortable, the Suites are fabulous, spacious and welcoming with all the amenities you need, the staff are fabulous, never ‘in your face’ but always there at hand when you need them, happy to look after you, and obviously very happy to be working on board a Silversea ship. I have never been looked after so well, and of course, with each suite having its own butler, you really are very well looked after indeed.

I have so much to share with you about my four days on board that I will have to do so over a few posts so this is just a general overview to begin with.

Let’s b e honest, you would probably think that a 6* cruise line is going to be prohibitively expensive when looking for a cruise and yes, they are more expensive than your mainstream cruise lines but when you take into account what is included and what your on board account costs you, the difference isn’t that much, and to be honest what you get for your money makes it worth every penny. I would cruise with Silversea again in a heartbeat.

Food, service, ports of call, I will come back to another time in more detail but let me just give you some basic information of what is included in your Silversea cruise for now:

Butler service in every Suite – my Danial was an absolute gem with a wonderful smile

All-inclusive drinks in your suite and throughout the ship – no filling in chitties every time you have a drink!

Mini bar restocked twice daily

Complimentary bottle of spirit in your Suite for each guest

Complimentary luxury toiletries – I chose Bvlgari!

Gourmet Dining/ Open seating dining – I will tell you about ‘Hot Rocks’ in more detail another time

Gratuities

Free Business Class flights subject to availability and all overseas transfers

Excursions and on board lectures on certain itineraries
