Just another new ship, or a Quantum Leap for Royal Caribbean?

This isn’t going to be just any ship, or just another ship. This is going to be Quantum Of The Seas, and I truly believe that this ship is going to be to cruising what the first man on the moon was for space travel. It is going to be ground-breaking in a way that only Royal Caribbean can manage which is why they lead the way in the wonderful world of cruising.

Following a training session this morning I can honestly say that I am ‘Wowed’ by the features that will appear on this ship, even if I am a little nervous that I might be going thirsty if I can’t figure out how to order a drink on an Ipad, one that will then be served by a robot! Yes, yours truly is going to be one of the very first people to sail on Quantum, and to say that I am excited would be an understatement – eeeek! End of October, Quantum here I come – just make sure those robots drop ice and a slice in my G n T and I’m sure we’ll get along just fine.

There are many innovative features on board, and of course one of these is the end to on board dining as we know it – the end of first and second sitting – dining is now Dynamic. There will be five main restaurants to replace what would formerly have been the main dining room, arrive when you like and wear what you like – it’s all gone casual! Other features include the North Star, a capsule that will take guests more than 300 feet above sea-level for stunning views of the sea and their destination – Wowser! Seawalk on Royal Princess was not for the faint-hearted at 128ft, this is going to be in another league!

If that isn’t exciting enough for you thrill-seekers how do you fancy trying the RipCord by iFly? The sky-diving wind tunnel where you will literally be floating in midair – while at sea. What a combo that will be! Sort of sky-diving without the huge drop.

For those looking for more leisurely pursuits maybe Two70 will be for you. A huge space with huge expanses of glass and plenty of ways to enjoy yourself, day and night, and believe you me, the entertainment is going to be state of the art, like nothing you have ever before experienced. All high tech of course!

Sea Plex will bring many on shore favourites onto the open sea – bumper cars, soccer, circus school and roller skating, then during the evening it will transform into a first of it’s kind party venue where the DJ will hover above revellers.

And then there’s the bar where you will order your drinks in an ipad – I’ll let you know whether the robots can make head or tail of my order, or whether I end up cocking my leg over the bar and helping myself!
