Flight Tracker – or, do I need to buy myself a new anorak Mrs?

I do hope that this is not a sign of things to come as I enter my sixth decade, but between you, me and the gatepost I have started watching planes. I know, I know, it’s not very rock and roll but there is a good reason

Middle child has gone off on a back-packing trip around Canada and the US. Now I know he is 21 and a big strapping lad but truth be told I am not great at letting my chicks fly the nest, I am that over protective mother of your worst nightmares.

Anyway, off he goes at 3am on Sunday, flying to Toronto via Amsterdam and he is due to arrive at about 4pm our time. A long time for an anxious Mom waiting to hear about his safe arrival, until I found FlightAware. A fantastic online system that allows you to track flights live. I mean, you can watch this tiny plane move, albeit very slowly, across the screen – brilliant! Infact I think I wasted most of Sunday doing this.

It is really easy to use, just click here, enter the number of the flight you want to track along with the departure and arrival airport and Bob’s your Uncle! How fantastic to be able to do this.

For help with flights, cruises and landtours, or just to chat to a fellow mother struggling to come to terms with swiftly emptying nest syndrome, call me on 0800 408 6084. I will be delighted to chat to you!
