Discovering our smiles on Thomson Majesty part 1

Well we have just returned from a fantastic week on the Thomson Majesty, and can honestly say, we are missing her already.

From the very quick embarkation process, with our cases waiting for us on arrival at our cabin, to our sad farewell a week later, everything was just as it should be.

Although not the largest ship around, with only 732 cabins, it never felt cramped even though she was at full capacity.

During our very enjoyable week on board, we visited Sicily, Sorrento, Rome, Corsica, Menorca and Majorca, but more about that in part 2.

We stayed in cabin 4988, the very last one at the back of deck 4. Now although not the biggest cabin, it was quieter as we only had people on 1 side.

Having not sailed on the Majesty before, we really did not know what to expect, but Thomson did not let us down.

The service was exactly as we would have expected, fantastic. The staff on the ship work tirelessly to ensure you have an amazing time, always with a smile or friendly greeting.

We ate most of our meals in the Seven Seas Restaurant, one of 2 offering waiter service, the other being the Four Seasons. I can honestly say that each visit was memorable, from attentive staff, delicious food and even singing waiters.

We also tried the 2 buffet restaurants, Piazza San Marco, and our preferred option, Cafe Royale, where they serve an amazing afternoon tea, with scones, jam and cream. Even if we weren`t hungry, it would be rude not to after they had gone to all that trouble!

As with all Thomson ships, there was a choice of entertainment throughout the day and evening.  We were regulars at the Jubilee Lounge, sampling one of the house bands, Game of Tones, a different show production each evening and even a comedian, flown in from the UK. The shows were really good, but if I`m honest, we felt the entertainment on the Spirit was just a bit more polished. We still enjoyed every show though.

It`s a shame that the Majesty will soon be leaving the Thomson fleet, but I am so glad that we managed to have an enjoyable cruise with her before she goes.

Thomson, or TUI, as they will soon be known, are investing in more modern ships, with the 2 Discoveries and the forthcoming Explorer. These 3 ships are a little bigger than their usual fleet, but I hope that they don`t lose the Thomson trademarks, excellent service from a happy crew, delicious food and top class entertainment.
