Venturing on the Ventura!

I’m giddy with excitement at the thought of stepping on board the Ventura next week for a 7 night Fly Cruise round the med!

I’ve been looking forward to this since I was lucky enough to get through and book my Graduation Cruise.  A reward for completing some pretty intensive training, and reaching Commodore Level, the highest achievable!

Also my clients have given me so much advice and tips for when I’m on board, and are so complimentary about the ship, that I seriously cannot sleep!

I’ve also just found out that I have been given an upgrade to a lovely Balcony Cabin, midship, which hopefully means that I won’t need to visit the ship’s doctor for motion sickness pills, or worse, an injection!

The itinerary takes in a few places left on my ‘Bucket List’, as I’ve never visited Venice, Rome, Corsica, or Kotor!  I’ve been close – visited Pisa years ago, so long ago in fact, visitors were permitted to climb up inside the Leaning Tower of Pisa, when there was no such thing as safety rails!  Great Fun! But thinking back, highly dangerous!  I think I may even have in the archives of my past, the obligatory picture of me ‘holding’ the tower in my hand…..!

Venice – city of romance.  As we’ll be celebrating our 37th year of marriage, what better place to spend some quality time together!

Not sure about a Gondola ride though.  I think the pictures look better standing next to one, rather than actually in one….

See what I mean??

Kotor appeals, as it looks very olde worlde.  Love all the cobbled narrow streets. Historical buildings. Really looking forward to exploring the town, the fortress and seeing the Fjords!

I’ve got myself a very comfortable pair of walking shoes for my trip to Rome.  So much to see, it will take all day.  With a few rest stops for a cold drink and the obligatory cigarette for Hubs!

We’ve got tickets to the Vatican City, Sistine Chapel, which I’m really looking forward to, and could score some brownie points with the catholic side of the family!

We’re also visiting Ajaccio (Napoleons ‘hood)

and Corfu, the latter I’ve visited on many occasions over the years, in fact we visited Corfu for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. So looking forward to a return visit.

At the moment, I’m stressing over just exactly what to cram into my 20kgs of luggage allowance. I’m only too pleased that hubs has 20kgs as well.  Which I’m sure he will ‘share’ with me!

So that’s my itinerary shipmates, I’ll let you all know how I got on when I get back!
