Cheers! P&O Unveil A Drinks Package At Last!

Finally they have listened to you the passengers and to us travel agents!  and unveiled a drinks package in line with most other cruise lines.

However…..

Its only a trial at the moment, dipping their toes in the water so to speak, to see if the infrastructure on their ships can manage with the demand this will no doubt bring.

The news has been met with mixed reviews.. So here’s the full details, let me know what you think:

  • The trial starts on 21st July 2018 for 1 month on board the AZURA.
  • It can only be booked on board and not via your cruise personaliser – and within 2 days of boarding – no later.
  • After the month period ends, P&O will review the results and take a decision as to whether to roll it out to the whole fleet.
  • The cost is £39.95 per adult per day.  Which includes:
  • Beers, Single measure spirits, cocktails, wine by the glass – up to the value of £6.95 per drink
  • Unlimited DRAFT (not bottles) soft drinks, mocktails, Costa coffees, teapigs teas, hot chocolates & small bottled  water up to 500ml
  • You all get 20% discount on drinks above £6.95, as well as bottles of wine, large bottles of water, canned and bottled soft drinks & juices.
  • If you are travelling with children under 16yrs, they will receive a drinks package free of charge!  (Now that is good news!)

With all good news however, comes some restrictions:

Each adult assigned to the same cabin must purchase the drinks package and sharing is forbidden!

Drinks package is strictly non-refundable

Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages per 24hr period from 6am to 6pm.

Only one drink at a time may be ordered with a minimum of 15min wait between orders?!  I don’t get this? as if you are restricted to 15 drinks per 24hr period, why restrict it to one drink at a time?  Isn’t it up to the passenger when they consume their quota?

And… does this mean that if I ask my hubs to get me a drink, he can, without fear of retribution, say ‘Get It Yourself’??

You must be over 18 (21 in USA waters)

All bottles & cans will be served open.   – So no stockpiling in the cabin!

P&O are also offering a non-alcoholic soft drinks package & a Hot drinks package.

What’s your thoughts on this new announcement?  Good Value ?
