Edging to the TOP

For anyone that follows my social media, (and if you don’t, why not? – There is a link to the left of your screen.  Hint hint), you will have clearly seen that earlier this month I was given the amazing opportunity to visit Celebrity Edge when she stopped at Southampton for a few days.  I have been a huge fan of Celebrity Cruises for years and have always championed the Solstice Class of ships when they came in, as the quality is amazing.  So I was excited to see how Celebrity were upping their game to go even further towards their tag line of Modern Luxury, if even this could be done.

Well I can officially say, anyone that has been looking at Celebrity Edge and wondering what all the fuss is about, and is the hype real, yes it is and its even better than they say it is.

The much hyped from car to bar check in, where by you load a selfie onto the app when doing your online check in, for facial recognition software to check you in at the port works like a dream.  One thing I hate about starting a holiday whether that’s by air or sea is the guaranteed queues.  Well no more! you literally can check in and start your holiday stress free in as little as 10 minutes.  Straight to the bar for a cocktail.  What better way to start your cruise?

One of the newest features to adorn the Edge and what will feature in her sister ships is the Infinity Balcony Cabins.  These have been designed to take your stateroom right to the edge of your balcony and open everything up inside, rather than the traditional balcony doors that you normally get.  I am going to say I am in love with them.  After being a bit sceptical about them before I boarded, I immediately  saw the attraction of these.  They brought in much more light than a traditional cabin could ever get and the cabin itself felt much more open and airy.  Plus they were heavily complemented by the interiors designed by the one and only Kelly Hoppen.  I will cover the infinity balconies in more detail in later blogs so be sure to look out for those.

My favourite venue on the ship had to be Eden.  This is a multi purpose venue that changes throughout the day to offer you something new.  Designed with tropical plants all around, you feel like your in the middle of the jungle whilst on a ship, it is very surreal but ambient at the same time.  During the day, this a a venue you would want to relax in with a good book, whilst glancing through the spectacular multi floor windows, watching the world go by.  You would almost feel as if you were in a coffee advert.  Through out the day you can dine in Eden, I didn’t get chance to eat here but it looked phenomenal.  In the evening the venue came alive to host the nighttime where my favourite Celebrity Cruises activity was held, the silent disco.  If you haven’t tried it, be sure to on your next cruise with them.

I have to say overall Celebrity Edge has tipped the scales for me in terms of the quality and the experience on board that I am going to struggle to look at other ships in the same way.  So much so that I have now booked to sail on her for a Caribbean cruise in 2020 and I cannot wait.

I will be updating you on other aspects of Edge in coming blogs so be sure to look out for them.  And for pictures and videos, take a look at my Facebook page.
