Branson’s Boats Are Almost Here!

Sorry I meant Virgin Voyages!

Yes a few days ago, airline, trains & media mogul, Sir Richard Branson, launched the site for his latest venture, Virgin Voyages, another arm under the Virgin umbrella.

I’ll be honest it’s a long time since I’ve seen a completely new cruise line launched, so I am actually quite excited, whilst also feeling perilously uneducated all of a sudden! It’s a bizarre feeling having built up an unfathomable amount of knowledge in my 14 year plus years in the cruise industry.

Their flagship, The Scarlet Lady, promises to deliver a few new touches to spice up the cruise market, although starting with the just the one ship, it’ll be some years before Virgin are really locking heads with the big boys such as Carnival and Royal Caribbean. But intially deploying her around Cuba and the Mexican and Dominican coasts seems a good move I think to ‘test the water’, get a feel for it, see how consumers react.

But would the UK have been a better option?

I can’t help thinking that Sir Richard would have been better off starting his maiden adventure from our shores. He is after all from here. With all this Brexit negativity, it would have been really nice to see them start sailing from a UK port. Perhaps in the future they will? Who knows. Thoughts on this welcome?

It’s going to be an interesting ride that’s for sure!

For now it’s go go go for Virgin Voyages, and they have my full support!

So want some help booking, or just want to ask a few questions to a real person, give me a call or drop me an email.

Thanks for reading and as always, until next time….
