A New Breed Of Cruiser

So this year I have, for the first time in many years in the cruise sales industry, noticed a sharp decrease in average booking age.

More and more families have been cruising over the last decade, such is the rise in larger ships, and the wealth of entertainment that fills their decks.

Ever since the likes of Navigator of the Seas appeared on Southampton’s shores, we Brits have been more and more captivated by cruising in general, seeing wonderful ships like Celebrity Eclipse, Independence of the Seas, and Britannia to name a few of the big boys, set their stall in Southampton for us to experience.

It’s ships like that which have seen families flock with their younger children and teenagers, and as the years have progressed, those teenagers have become young adults, and are used to the style, and quality of cruising in general. They might see it as ‘the norm’ when it comes to their annual kick back time.

This ‘New Breed’ of cruiser, is used to the little luxuries and the diverse world that cruising offers when compared to a land based holiday, and with ships getting better deals all the time, along with a wider variety of entertainment, these younger cruisers are becoming more adventurous when it comes to their bookings. I mean, as a twenty-something year old, what is not to love about cruising?

Excellent food and booze, loads of places to see, great nightlife, comfortable and quality accommodation, all wrapped up in one stunning floating ship! It’s the perfect holiday!

Not affordable I hear some say?

Rubbish! You can get yourself on a cruise now for a week for as little as £500-£600pp if you time it right. And for that you get so much value!

I’ve always welcomed and encouraged a younger audience in my industry, so it’s great to see this finally happening as I predicted it would long ago.

Some of my clients now are not even old enough to legally drink alcohol on some ships! Fortunately is’s only the US that prohibits this, and whilst I’m not in the business of encouraging binge drinking galore at sea, I understand that it’s a big part of the enjoyment.

So if you are one of those people who thinks you are ‘too young’ to book or even board a ship, think again, I guarantee I can at least change your preconceptions about this brilliant holiday, and I reckon I can do it on a budget (within reason) too! Why not give me a call!

Thanks for reading and as always, until next time…
