You’ve seen it in the movies….

This week I am taking my inspiration from a recent visit to the Cinema and talking about the places that you’ve seen in the movies (on TV etc…)

I went to see Mamma Mia 2, a fantastic film – tissues definitely needed, and was in absolute awe at some of the scenery which got me thinking – Where was this film made ?

Mamma Mia 1 was actually filmed in Greece – Skopelos Island, and I had heard that Mamma Mia 2 was not filmed in the same location and this is correct.. It was actually filmed in Croatia – incorporating the Island of Vis.

Croatia really does seem to be an ever increasing movie filming location – and a place that I was lucky enough to cruise to myself last year.  As you may recall, my husband is a huge Game of Thrones fan, and whilst in Dubrovnik we actually did a Game of Thrones tour that took us around all the filming locations and showed us how they had been adapted for the Television show.

Dubrovnik was also home to some of the filming of the recent Star Wars – The Last Jedi film, along with the newest Robin Hood Film.

This got me thinking more about other Cruise Ports that offer fantastic places that you will have seen in the movies:

New Zealand – Lord of The Rings

Thailand – The Beach

Sicily – The God Father

Boston/Cape Cod – Jaws

New York – Pretty Woman

Hawaii – Jurassic Park

Caribbean – Pirates of the Caribbean

and even stunning Austrian scenery from the Sound of Music from a River Cruise..

I really am a self confessed chick-flick fan really, but must admit that I would love to visit Hobbiton on New Zealand at some point in the future.

What is your favourite film? Have you done any film/TV location tours or just been inspired to visit a destination by a movie. ? I would love to hear your feedback.

until next time, Frankie
