Truly Majestic….

I am back in the office and feeling truly Majestic and owe a HUGE Thank you to Princess Cruises for the amazing opportunity I have been given…

I have done several trade launch events previously, mainly as an overnight in Southampton but to be amongst the first 2500 passengers sailing on the Preview to the Maiden Voyage of the stunning Majestic Princess was an absolute honour..

I flew from Gatwick to Venice on Friday 31st March, then transfer by  coach to the port of Trieste.. from the very first glimpses of the ship in the port and already a great “local” buzz to the town you could sense this was going to be a sailaway like nothing seen before.  By the time we sailed away at 5.37pm local time the dockside was full of people to wave us off – a firework display and a port side band sent us on our way.  Not sure if these crowds were increased as the Captain was actually from Trieste, all his family and friends came to wave him off.

What followed has been a fantastic 4 night voyage to the port of Civitavecchia, Rome including a day in the beautiful port of Kotor, Montenegro.   I will do my trip over my next few blogs, one on Kotor itself and another one featuring the amazing technology on board – and a preview of more to come.  So for now to focus on the ship..

Majestic Princess is the third Regal Class ship of Princess Cruises and very similar in design to the previous 2 being the Regal & Royal, there are a further 3 ships on order of this class of ship over the coming years.  This ship however is very unique in that it has been designed specifically for the Asian Market and will be home porting in Shanghai following a couple of months in Europe… This bought with it some obvious differences, All the signage being written in Chinese as well as English and 1 alternative Speciality dining restaurant Harmony – a Michelin starred Cantonese Restaurant.  However, also some more subtle differences – a much larger Casino than on any other ship – also including VIP and Super VIP private gaming rooms for the real high rollers,  on deck 5 tucked away between the Piazza and the Spa the ship boasts some amazing Karaoke Suites – fantastic for a group travelling together to have a bit of fun and various packages are available to include food & drinks, The Pool area Pizza & burger areas have been swapped for Chopsticks Noodle Bar and the Lobster & Dim Sum Bar (although Burgers, hot dogs & fries were available from here).  One feature they have kept is the amazing Sea Walk – and I was brave enough to walk it – at Sea !!..

The Undercover Pool Area Hollywood Pool Club, also doubled up as a great night spot with DJ, The absolutely fantastic Tenors of Rock even joined us for an “after Party” in the pool club.. The Conservatory was stunning with the truly unique wish wall.. added to on our final day by little paper pads that you could add your wish to.. overall I have had a fantastic time, If you would like to experience this truly Majestic ship get in quick there are some fantastic deals left for a few remaining European sailings.
