Explorer was Exquisite.. My visit to the Most Luxurious Cruise Ship.

Tuesday saw me embark on a ship visit with a difference, I had the fantastic opportunity to spend several hours on board the most luxurious Cruise ship ever built the Regent Seven Seas Explorer.  Just launched in September of last year, this has been it’s maiden voyage to the UK sailing an around Britain itinerary where I had the pleasure of joining the ship in Dartmouth for the day.

This was a ship visit like none I have ever experienced, as the ship was actually at anchor off of Dartmouth so this involved me actually sailing to join the ship aboard its luxury tender service.  Fully padded rows of cushioned seats, with curtains and a sliding panoramic section of the roof made this tender like nothing I had experienced before and really set the standards high for this trip.  The sun was shining as we sailed past Dartmouth castle and this was when I caught my first glimpse – wow, completely stunning.

After a smooth embarkation process we were greeted with a glass of Champagne to commence our ship tour.  Unfortunately, I was not able to actually see inside any suites as the cruise was completely fully booked – but did get to stand outside the vast double doors of the top suite on the ship – The Regent Suite – there is just the 1 and it has it’s own spa area, a Steinway Grand Piano, and either side of the door way are REAL Picasso works of art. The Suite is 4443 Square Foot and the base of the bed alone cost $ 113,000… that must make for a lovely nights sleep.. !!

This ship resounded complete understated elegance, the all suite ship has a passenger capacity of just 750 with 552 crew to look after you.  There were many individual lavish touches throughout the ship from the unique works of art, to the leather floor in the Library, the ship also boasts over 1 acre of marble and the flowers in the $ 20,000 vase in the main lobby – and all others throughout the ship – are replenished daily.  The Compass Rose Restaurant boasts a stunning Murano glass wave and tables are adorned with custom designed Versace place settings, and the Pacific Rim restaurant entrance houses a Tibetan prayer roll – which is heavier than any luxury car.. the attention to every fine detail as you walk through the ship is impeccable.

Lunch was obviously something on another level too, served in the Prime 7 Restaurant – one of the 3 Speciality restaurants on board – we were served an exquisite 6 course lunch menu from the Lobster & Melon starter through to the most melt in the mouth steak and finishing with delightful homemade petit fours with fresh coffee.

After touring the ship, wining & dining it was time to board the tender for the return journey – really wished I could have stayed on board even for just a few days..  If you are looking for a Luxury All Inclusive Cruise, maybe to mark a milestone Anniversary or Birthday, then Regent Seven Seas Explorer is definitely top of my list.
