A Beautiful Royal Addition

A couple of years ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the pre-launch celebrations for the Royal Princess, a stunning new addition to the Princess Cruise lines fleet.  Although Royal remained berthed in Southampton for our overnight stay on board it was truly amazing to explore the ship’s facilities and experience the dining and entertainment facilities on-board.

The vast atrium area, with its beautiful glass staircases, boasts an array of food and beverage options from Vines wine bar through to the Gelato ice-cream area.  For your main dining arrangements Royal offers both traditional and any-time dining options to her guests along with special extra treats such as Sabatini’s Italian Restaurant or the amazing Crown Grill Steak House.  For a true special occasion there is also the Chef’s Table Lumiere – a private dining experience where a curtain of lights encloses your table – truly magical.

Away from all the food, there are plenty of opportunities to relax on board the Royal, including the Lotus Spa and the Sanctuary Retreat – which offers an escape for adults only along with the retreat pool offering private poolside cabanas.   Another “first at sea” from Princess is the stunning Seawalk – a glass walkway cantilevered from the side of the ship – giving amazing over-water views whilst at sea.

The Seawalk – taken from shore – amazing to see the sea below you whilst sailing.

After all that eating, drinking and relaxing there are plenty of night time activities for however you wish to party.  Take in the amazing light and fountain show at the pool before snuggling up under your blanket with your popcorn to watch a movie under the stars or gamble in the casino before partying in the nightclub.  The choice is yours and Royal Princess certainly has a lot to offer her guests.
