Reviews ….. Are they helpful?

This week I wanted to talk about when I am booking my own holiday be it a cruise or a package holiday (Yes believe it or not even us Cruise Experts tend to enjoy the hotel package holiday every now and again) how even I still have to look at reviews before I make that all important decision.

For this year myself and my boyfriend had said no to holidays, very hard when I work in this industry and every day come face to face with the most amazing itineraries, bigger and bigger new ships and incredible bucket list adventures.  However we couldn’t resist after all so a holiday in good old Tenerife is what is booked (This is us a couple of years ago)

To make my decision I rely alot on what other guests that have visited the hotel and their thoughts and opinions ….. This took me 3 hours! ….. Now this is actually quite good going as I have become adjusted to the fact that with some reviews you do have to take them with a pinch of salt as the saying goes as of course what my next door neighbor might want out of their holiday may be completely the other end of the extreme to what I look for and want.

So are reviews good? Do you use these to help you make your decision?  What I love about good old Trip Advisor is that these are REAL and HONEST and when making that all important decision this is what you need.  I do not wish to be shown a photo of what our view should look like from our balcony and then the view I see when I arrive to be completely different ….

Will you find these helpful? Did you look at reviews anyway? Or do you just wish to experience the ship or hotel for yourself anyway?
