First Female Captain

This week it was announced that Celebrity cruise’s has the first female cruise captain.  I was really surprised by this information as I assumed, which I know is wrong to,  that there was already females cruise captains.  Starting as soon as August 2015 Captain McCue has extensive experience sailing the seven seas., working her way up from Master Mariner  with Royal Caribbean she has reached the point in her career she aimed for. Hoping to inspire other female captains along the way McCue who is from San Francisco says becoming the first female American captain of a cruise ship has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. McCue has already been in the maritime industry for fifteen years, has managed ship logistics while sailing worldwide, including around Europe, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Alaska and more still. Hopefully opening the doors for others alike this may be something we see more and more. Good on her!
