Celebrity Edge

Last Monday and Tuesday I was lucky enough to spend two nights on board the beautiful Celebrity Edge before she set sail round to the Med. I have only visited Celebrity Eclipse for the day so hadn’t any real Celebrity experience up until now.

On arriving the ship looked massive but surprisingly holds only  2934 passengers.i say only as most of the newer ships have 5000 plus, but I quite liked that Celebrity hadn’t gone too big. The general feel I get from the majority of my clients is the ships are too big and they find them off putting.

I was meeting a few colleagues who were travelling from various different destinations, so being the first on board I had a good look around. The sun was shining and it felt like we were setting off somewhere. i made my way to the top deck where there are various places to sit and relax. The main pool bar overlooks has plenty of atmosphere with a DJ playing the latest tunes. Just off to here you will find the Carpet Restaurant/bar, which if you don’t already know is a floating bar on the side of the ship which moves up and down. Unfortunately i never got to see this as it stayed on deck 14 the whole time we were on board. I’m not a fan of heights but made myself go in and look around and its a lovely open and light area. When you leave  you  you come to the Cabana areas which you can hire and have your own space with waiter service.

Also on this deck is the rooftop ,garden, which really is beautiful area you can relax during the day but at night it comes alive with music entertainment and also the Rooftop Cinema.

Fancy a bit of Ultimate Sanctuary? Well Celebrity Edge  offers their suite guest access to the The retreat offering around the clock butler service, culinary delights of Luminae . The chic open air pool at The Retreat Sundeck is a tranquil haven and a perfect place to relax and replenish.

One of my favourite places is the Grand Plaza, the name says it all! a three story venue inspired by the lively piazzas of Italy. if martinis is your tipple then this the place to visit, offering a whole menu of different Martinis.

Eden is a multi level architectural design, a place unlike anywhere you’ve been before at sea. Here you can have coffees, breakfast bites and in the afternoon hand craft cocktails. I only went here in the evening to the silent disco which are becoming more and more popular. if there’s one on the itinerary planner its worth a try, very funny listening and watching people sing and dance along to different tunes.

The Club is a great space for dancing the night away. I really enjoyed it here, plenty of room for everyone and the music is current and catchy.

On my last night I went to the theater to watch Hot Summer Nights Dream. As it started I thought it a little strange.People dressed up as fairies, blowing horns and shaking marakas. I could not imaging what I would end up watching, but it was the best show I have seen at sea. The aerial acrobats and dancing was amazing and in some parts breath taking when the dancers would climb to the top of what i can only describe as a bed sheet, twist it around their body and free fall.  I  must admit i did gasp a couple of times. If you are ever on board make sure you watch the hour long show.

I hope you have enjoyed part one of my review. Keep an eye out for my next Blog about the different cabins and restaurants.
