I am on my first Christmas Cruise!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

As we speak I am currently (hopefully) sunning myself on board the brand new AIDAnova. Aida Cruises newest and biggest and the worlds first ever LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas).

We set sail on December 19th from Tenerife and have spent the past week sailing around the Canary Islands, including – Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Madeira and Gran Canaria.

This is my first every Christmas Cruise and I have gone the full continental on this one sailing on a German ship. I’ve most likely enjoy Christmas Goose and sauerkraut and will hopefully be stuffed on gingerbread cookies by now!

I’m writing this before I’ve sailed and the ship had it’s handover ceremony early this week, here’s what happened:

Built at Papenburg’s Meyer Werft Ship Yard, AIDAnova is the largest ship ever constructed at this ship yard.

“AIDAnova is a milestone for our company and the entire cruise industry,” said Michael Thamm, group CEO of Carnival Corporation’s Costa Group – which includes AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises – and Carnival Asia. “With Carnival Corporation pioneering LNG technology, we start a new era of environmentally friendly cruising. It’s important now that the respective infrastructure will be further developed as more and more cruise lines are following our example.”

AIDAnova set sail today for the Canary Islands to welcome its inaugural guests at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain, embarking on December 19 for a seven-day holiday cruise around the Canary Islands and Madeira.

AIDAnova also has a baby sister on the way in 2020, P&O Cruises Iona so I am really excited to get a sneak peak at the layout of this class of ship before Iona is launched.

Merry Christmas One and All!
