Here come the big boys!

There is always much excitement around when a new ship is about to be launched, but this month we have double the pleasure!

October is a big month for Royal Caribbean and the UK as we have two new visiting ships bringing brand new innovation, and size to the shores of our beloved home port, Southampton.

You’ve heard of the smart phone yes? Well I present you with the brand new type of ‘Smart ship’, Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Class.

Fresh from the Meyer Werft ship yard, Quantum of the Seas, the newest vessel to grace our seven seas will be an industry leader providing some of the best facilities at sea. How would you fancy a cocktail made entirely by robotic arms? Skydiving in the middle of the bay of biscay? Or how about a dabble at the bumper cars on board? That’s right, all of this can be done during your cruise, and the best thing about it is – IT’S ALL FREE!

Now I admit this is an absolute treat and will me a groundbreaking ship that will shock the industry, but the truth is you will pay for it! Royal Caribbean have two ships based in Southampton next year, Explorer of the Seas, an older ship with RCL, and Anthem of the Seas (Quantums sister). I will leave it to you to decide which is the more expensive! But as mentioned, in terms of on board experience of course Anthem is the way to go next year. (That or my beloved Royal Princess 😉 )

Quantum will head to the USA for a short while, before heading to China to see how she gets on with the clients in that part of the world!

We are very lucky to have Anthem of the Seas in next year, I can not wait to get on board (fingers crossed).

So here is the big one!

This Wednesday 15th October the UK will see a spectacle once only manageable in faraway shores, something so big she will stretch taller than the Empire State, and will be seen for miles around. You guessed it, we are braced and ready to feel the full mighty force of the biggest cruise ship in the world – Oasis of the Seas!

From 9am Royal Caribbean will be ready for the ships arrival at 10am handing out free bacon butties at Mayflower Park, and will also be treating a handful of lucky agents to a secret  ‘mission’ on board – AND I’M ONE OF THEM!

I am so lucky to be chosen to spend the day in this big momma’s company and I can not wait to see how she treats me. taking over 6k passengers she really is a beast and is calling in on her way home after a brief dry dock.

To be honest I think they’re trialing her size, get used to it Southampton, I have a feeling we may be seeing a lot more of this special lady.

Let me know your thoughts…

Happy Cruising!
