Travel Insurance…Are you Covered?

I have been in the travel industry for 17 years and I always get asked about Travel Insurance…It is the bain of everyone’s life, but it is so important to have the right level of cover for your holiday as nobody knows what is around the corner.

There are lots of insurance companies out there and when you google this so much comes up and you don’t know where to start.

I have always looked at the Medical Cover when looking at policies and I would advise you need at least 10 Million Pounds worth in this area, also check that there is repatriation and also a MUST is make sure you advise the insurance company of any pre-existing medical conditions that you have along with medication that you take. I had a customer once that went on a holiday to Turkey and whilst he was there he suffered from a heart attack, because he didn’t advise the company of his heart condition. they refused to pay out, he ended up having to remortgage his house in the UK to cover the costs of his medical treatment.

Many people think that they have insurance through their bank, this is the case with most people, however, please check the level of cover as most of the time its a basic level of cover, as medical bills could be very expensive.

A lot of people also think that they don’t need insurance until they travel, but what about insuring the payments that you have made to the holiday, if you take out the policy in advance and you have to cancel due to some unforeseen circumstance, assuming its a reason covered by the insurance company, then you are covered to get your deposit back and any other payment that have been made towards your holiday.

PLEASE PLEASE Make sure that you have the correct policy in place, check the small print and the more finer details as most people don’t do this.
