This £10 million investment, will bring so much more to the Westcountry, i.e tourism, jobs and convenience and potentially 12.5 million to the economy every year….what are they waiting for????

Living in the southwest the closest cruise terminal is Southampton, which is approximately a 3 – 4 hour drive away.

How amazing would it be to set sail from Plymouth..

With the cruise market being so buoyant, more and more people are realizing just how cost effective it is to cruise. Visiting so many ports in one holiday, high standards of service and entertainment who wouldn’t choose to cruise, my personal experiences say that its a no brainer.

There is scope to have as many as 50 ships into Plymouth over the course of a year, with cruise operators making bookings up to 4 years in advance, there really is no time to waste.

Currently Fred Olsen offers a Westcountry sailing departure which is from Falmouth in Cornwall along with Cruise & Maritime who sail from Avonmouth. The addition of Plymouth would strengthen the opportunities available to travelers in the South West.

The Devon Expressway (A38) links Plymouth to Exeter and south to Cornwall. With such a large geographical area, this really could be the making for Plymouth and the Southwest as a whole.

Plymouth’s central railway station is less then a mile away from the port, which would offer cruise passengers many opportunities to visit the rest of the Westcountry.

Highlights in Exeter are the Cathedral, the Ramm Museum and take a stroll along the Quay side. Torquay’s riviera, walking along the Marina, taking a dip in the ocean and enjoying a nice meal at one of the marina restaurants with locally fresh fish caught the same day.

So lets support this fantastic opportunity and who knows you could set sail on your doorstep
