Santorini At It’s Best….

Santorini

Being half Greek Cypriot from my father’s side, (Hence my name Eleni) I have always heard first-hand how incredible parts of Greece are and the heritage that belongs to some of the most beautiful islands. I have always longed to visit as many Greek islands as possible and I must say I am getting there, however, one of the islands which have always been at the top of my bucket list of places in Europe to visit, has always been the beautiful & Romanic island of Santorini.

Now, I have always heard how beautiful this island is through either people I have met or spoken to but I wanted this to become a lasting memory for myself. One that I would be able to look back on and think…. Wow, that was beautiful.

In May this year, my husband and I decided that as we loved Greece so much, and wanted to extend the islands in which we had already seen, that now would be a great time to actually tick Santorini off our bucket list of places we have seen.

We decided to book a 10 Night, Med cruise, around the Greek islands, Italy & Turkey onboard the celebrity Reflection, during May 2016.

I can truly say that the itinerary that we cruised on was absolutely incredible and honestly one of the most picturesque cruises I have been on so far. I remember the day so clearly of when we tendered in the Aegean sea in Santorini, as it was my husband’s birthday and our first port of call on our cruise. We booked a tour with Celebrity around Fira & Oia which I would definitely recommend to do, (please be aware it does involve quite a bit of walking & includes a rather interesting cable car ride down the cliff). The tour was approx. 3.5 hours, and this included our own time to explore the sites ourselves as well as an escorted guided tour of both villages. Included in this tour was an exclusive look at one of Santorini’s most successful vineyards, overlooking what I can only describe as breathtaking. During our time here we got to sample three of the islands finest wines and purchase some souvenirs from the gift shop.

Clearly, I am not the only one who found Santorini incredibly Romantic as we even got to see two beautiful weddings during our time on this island.

If I am completely honest I am one of those people who thinks a picture speaks a thousand words, so let me just leave you with a collection of just some of my favourite pictures from our trip.
