A Royal Occasion on Board The Independence!

Two weeks ago I did a blog about my recent 5 day mini adventure on The Independence of The Seas with Royal Caribbean. In all honestly it is all I have thought about since returning back so my husband and I have already started to plan our next cruise holiday which I am super excited about.

Cruising has a habit of doing this to you.

Within 24 hours of returning back from our cruise holiday, my father-in-Law even booked his 2nd ever cruise. This time he decided to book a much smaller ship. He said he would like to experience a smaller ship as well to decide which type of cruise he prefers. I think this is what I love about cruising, there is so many different option of cruises to choose from, small, large, action packed, relaxing… the list goes on..

For my experience on board the Independence, it would have been impossible to have tried to sum up with just one blog so I decided to continue my Independence experience here for anyone who may be interested.

The Royal Wedding was such a special occasion on board.

We had docked into The gorgeous port of Cherbourg France with it’s vast views across one of the largest man made boating Marina’s in Europe, setting the perfect sunny backdrop to proceedings.

We went out in Town on a little train and visited the beautiful gardens and cafe’s. When we got back on-board we arrived up to the pool deck just in time for the Bride to walk down the Isle.

There were hundreds of people with a mixture of pride and emotion for the Happy couple. Royal Caribbean know how to put on an event and after the ceremony they had a wedding cake complete with cup cakes in the Windjamma Cafe.

At the evening street party there were lots of people with Prince Harry and Prince Charles masks which I must admit were very funny.

There was also a double celebration for Chelsea & Manchester United fans fans as the FA Cup final was streamed live in the brand new Play makers sports bar, up on lido deck into the early evening. For those of you who are set to enjoy a cruise this summer during the world cup, I can imagine the atmosphere for games will be incredible in Play Makers bar.

I love that being on a ship in the middle of the Sea does not stop your enjoyment of these live televised events. If anything it just added another layer to my excitement on board.

Was you on board a ship for either of The Royal Weddings odd fact for you?…

I was actually on board  Celebrity on my first ever cruise for Prince William and Kate’s wedding as well, funny how things turn out.
