Virtual Balconies? Not sure i would bother!

Guests who are generally interested in the ‘best’ priced cabins on Cruise Ships maybe interested to hear this one…….

Royal Caribbean are about to Embark on a brand new concept on Navigator Of The Seas this week.

The ‘Fake’ balconies are in fact an 80 inch HD display that pipes in real-time video to create a Pseudo window which even has its own banister for a feeling of safety.

Eighty one of Navigator’s inside Cabins will get screens that stretch almost floor to ceiling and wall to wall. The will be able to capture what people with views are seeing. Surely this is a case of ‘ Here is what you could have had!!!!’

I can see what they are trying to deliver, but in my experience, my clients tend to choose a window or balcony to gain space and natural light. For this reason i am not sure this would solve the issue.

These screens are mounted on either the North or South wall so if you get to see a view from the bow of the ship.

Before those of you that suffer from motion sickness change cruise lines, these screens can be switched off! Oh and before you ask, you cant link them up to ‘Netflix’ and have a cinema in your cabin.

I am interested to hear your thoughts on this one!
