Mingling With The Stars!!

So on Sunday just gone, myself and my colleague Ava took ourselves into London to attend a gala concert run by the Lady Taverners Charity, it’s President the lovely Lesley Garrett and sponsored by one of our luxury cruise partners Seabourn. Cruise.co bought the tickets to support the charity on it’s 30th anniversary. The mission of the Lady Taverners Charity is to enhance the lives of disadvantaged and disabled young people through sport and recreation.

The concert was held at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, London which is a beautiful historic building and was given for the night free of charge. Helping Lesley to introduce the acts were Angela Rippon and Judith Chalmers, both former presidents of the charity. As well as introductions, Lesley performed some stunning versions of famous songs performed in the West End over the last 30 years. Also performing were jazz singer Jacqui Dankworth, the Queen of musicals Ruthie Henshall, X Factor winners G4 performing their unique mix of popera and the fantastic London Gay Mens Chorus, who were brilliant and I had not heard of before. Started with 9 friends back in the ’90s who used to sing carols at Angel Underground Station hoping to raise a few pounds for the Terence Higgins Trust, they now have over 200 members and are the largest gay choir in Europe. They along with all the other performers gave their time for free.

After the concert we moved on to the Haymarket hotel for the after party. The atmosphere was great and everyone so friendly. Champagne was flowing and there were lovely canapes and the stars were happy to chat and have their photos taken. It was an unusual venue as there was a pool in the middle of the hall fairly close to the bar. Unfortunately one lady got carried away chatting and stepped backward, straight into the pool!! She was quickly rescued and helped away to get herself sorted with only her pride injured.

Thank you Seabourn for sponsoring such a great cause. You can find out more about Seabourn here. http://www.cruise.co.uk/seabourn/
