Ready to holiday like never before?

That’s what P&O Cruises strap-line is for their brand new ship Iona, due to launch in May 2020. Named after the beautiful Scottish Island of the same name, the ship will be P&O Cruises first new ship since Britannia launched in 2015. Carrying 5,200 guests, the ship will be one of the largest ships in the world!

Currently being built in Germany, Iona is being designed to bring the outside in with a SkyDome with a glass dome roof with plenty of natural light. By day, a relaxed poolside environment with various dining options, a central swimming pool and two whirlpools and by night there will be light shows and aerial acrobatic shows.

The Grand Atrium will span 3 decks and will have panoramic sea views. Iona’s inaugural season will be spent based in Southampton and operating 7 night cruises to the beautiful Norwegian Fjords.

I was logged in to P&O Cruises travel agent training programme on Friday night learning more about Iona and the Norwegian Fjords. Iona looks absolutely stunning and there is so much to do on-board; 15 places to eat, 8 speciality restaurants, 18 whirlpools, 4 swimming pools (three outside and one inside) and various entertainment venues. The cabins are designed beautifully, I particularly like the Conservatory Mini-Suites.

I haven’t cruised to the Fjords yet, however its at the top of my list! In particular, I really want to visit Bergen – Norway’s second city which is surrounded by mountains and fjords, including Sognefjord, the longest and deepest in Norway. Another place I’m desperate to tick off my list is Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the whole of Norway, drawing visitors from all over the world – many by cruise ship. Geirangerfjord is home to the famous ‘Seven Sisters Waterfall’ – consisting of 7 streams of water that free fall up to 250 metres! WOW!

A cruise really is the best way to experience and appreciate the stunning beauty of the Norwegian Fjords. P&O Cruises are raising their game with the introduction of Iona and from prices as low as £629 per person for 7 nights full board cruise, it’s never been cheaper or easier to visit the Fjords. Who knows, I may see you on board!

If you would like a quotation on the Fjords on Iona or any other ship, please email me at [email protected] or call me on 0330 041 7419.
