P&O launch Belfast Flights for their FLY MED Cruise Programme

In Northern Ireland we like a bit of a moan. We loved being left out of things so we can have a good old complain to each other that we get nothing, everything happens in the ‘main land’. Our cruise companies support us as much as they can BUT if the flight routes aren’t there they can’t get us to their ships. This means we either lose out on cruising around some of Europe’s most beautiful ports or we have added flight, accommodation etc costs. Sometimes a flight to Southampton from Belfast City can cost up to £300 each so that nice and cheap £599 P&O offer isn’t such a bargain any more.

Well fear not Norn Iron folks. P&O have listened to our gripes and have done the previously unthinkable feat of having a direct flight, from Belfast to match in with their FLY MED Programme on the superb Ventura Ship – yes you heard me DIRECT FLIGHT!!!! I nearly didn’t believe it myself until I called their flight department to confirm it.

Their charter flight from Belfast International is to match in with the 14 night voyage on the Ventura from Genoa, Italy on the 23^rd July 2014. Ports of call on this fantastic voyage include Florence/Pisa, Naples, Dubrovnik, An overnight in Venice, Kotor, Corfu, Rome and last but not least Corsica.

We need to get behind this 100% and make it a success for P&O to realise the demand is there and to include many more flights from Belfast in their 2015 programme. With only one flight from Belfast it does feel a bit like ‘we will give them one date to keep them quiet’, and  I hope they look at the demand and set their 2015 flights accordingly to reflect the high demand from N.Ireland’s growing cruise population.

Prices start from £1359 per person for an inside cabin, based on 2 sharing. We are not being charged a supplement for our Belfast flights, which in itself is a miracle!! The price is fantastic considering this is your flights, transfers, all those beautiful ports, and all your food and entertainment!

So we need to focus on the opportunity we have here, get booking those cabins and show P&O we love cruising as much as anyone else in the UK and deserve to have the flights and will relish the opportunity!!
