Is bigger always better!

P & O have just announced the name of their new superliner. She will be called Britannia. Great name and I am sure she will find lots of loyal followers but at 141,000 tons is she too big?

Royal Caribbean also announced earlier in the year their plans for a new ship, Quantum of the Seas, which at 227,000 tons will swamp Britannia!

Does a ship this big put you off? For me it depends on the design as some large ships can have a homely feel to them. Where I think it starts getting silly is when “new innovations” are brought in. An example of this is the Indoor Skydiving on Quantum of the Seas. Really stop with the gimmicks and lets get back to what cruising is about?

– Great destinations

– And meeting people
