Quantum of the Seas…….this changes everything! (Part 3 of 5 – Entertainment)

Innovation and Broadway shows are what’s waiting for you on board Quantum of the Seas. Check out the list of Inaugural Entertainment for 2014/15.

Starwater – Held in Two70

This is an original production from Royal Caribbean and its a highly visual production that fuses video mapping, ground breaking robotic technology and live performance artistry. The star of the show brings together the magic of the stars and the mystery of the seas or that’s what the brochure says. I loved the scenery and the technology but have to be honest that the show itself left me cold! There was no story to it and I personally need a story!! The only part that I sat up and took notice was when half naked men fell from the ceiling!!

Virtual Concert – Held in Two70

This is where the six Roboscreens really come into effect as each one showcases the singers and musicians on giant screens. Quantum will be featuring one of Las Vegas’ most talented bands – Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns!!

Sonic Odyssey – Held in the Royal Theatre

William Close is the innovator and musician that will be bringing Sonic Odyssey to you. Having seen something similar a few years ago I can say it is amazing to see the massive harp strings soaring above your head in the theatre as the musician takes you on a musical journey. Not to be missed.

Mamma Mia — Held in the Royal Theatre

Amazing, stunning, fantastic, brilliant! This is not an excerpt from the show it is the full stage production of Mamma Mia – all two and half hours (15 minutes interval). From start to finish the acting and singing is outstanding. From high intensity songs such as Dancing Queen to the emotional Slipping Through My Fingers, which may I say reduced me to tears, I did not want the show to stop. The show ended with everyone dancing in the aisles and singing – I was exhausted.

There are other entertainment shows such as Name That Tune and An Evening With Jimmy Rhodes (Cruise Director) plus Dreamworks Experiences where you can meet characters from films such as Penguins of Madagascar, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and much more.

In short I loved the entertainment whilst on board but felt that Starwater needed a story line. Mamma Mia is a definite though and when Anthem of the Seas comes over to Southampton next year she will be showcasing We Will Rock You.

Is there anything you would like to see on a ship entertainment wise?

What’s the weirdest entertainment show you have seen?
