Princess Cruises – The Hostess With The Mostest!

I had a fantastic time on my recent trip on the stunning Sky Princess. The cabins were great, the ship itself beautiful, the food amazing and the entertainment was brilliant. I have to say that on top of all that what made my cruise was the impeccable service from the crew.

Princess have an ethos with their crew that they are not there to serve you, but to ‘host’ you. It’s trying to fulfil their aim for all their guests to ‘Come Back New’. They want to make the whole cruise as effortless & personal as possible. So what does that actually mean?

Here’s what Princess say: “Our crew go above and beyond to host our guests and make the moments that matter count. They know guests by name and remember their favourite drink. Our warm and friendly crew make guests feel right at home from the moment they step onboard – they’ll feel like they belong. Our crew deliver a welcoming and personalised experience and an extraordinary level of service”.

They say it’s the little things that make the biggest difference and I completely agree. At one particular bar I ordered drinks for myself and my friend who always drinks vodka & coke with NO ice. The next night we were back at the same bar and when I ordered the vodka and coke for my friend he immediately remembered that she didn’t want ice.

Wherever we were when we handed over our medallion or card to purchase drinks the staff member would immediately call you by name and often remembered your name  on your next visit, so they really do practise what they preach. This is quite some feat with ships that hold literally thousands of passengers. Every single staff member i came across, even passing in a corridor had a big smile and hello.

As strange as it sounds the technology they have on board the Ocean Medallion ships can really enhance the personal experience. Staff can make notes on your preferences and make it prominent on your profile. For example David may like to be called Dave or restaurant staff can note any dislikes or allergies on your profile too.

It really does make your whole experience so much better to have a really friendly & professional crew. Whether you call it service or hosting, Princess staff certainly have it down to a fine art.

TTFN! 🙂
