The Destiny Turns To Sunshine

I have been lucky enough to cruise many times over the last 14 or so years but I have never been on a Carnival ship, but now I have the chance.

The Carnival Destiny was, upon entering service in 1996, the largest passenger ship ever built and has always been and remains one of the most popular ships of the industry. She is to be renamed the Carnival Sunshine after an extensive refit, costing $ 155 million, and  will start cruising in the Mediterranean from April to October 2013 before moving to her winter base of New Orleans to start Caribbean itineraries.

The Sunshine will carry just over 3000 passengers and 1150 crew and has some new and innovative features:

A fleet first: Carnival Sunshine’s WaterWorks area introduces Speedway Splash, featuring two lanes of long-distance waterslide racing action.

With a brand-new Cloud 9 Spa, plus 95 brand-new Cloud 9 Spa Staterooms, Carnival Sunshine practically floats on air!

Carnival Sunshine’s Serenity Adults-Only Retreat spans three decks, which means relaxation on a whole new level, or two, actual

Carnival Sunshine will feature 10 dining venues that are either brand-new or completely redesigned such as:

Ji Ji Asian Kitchen

Blueiguana Cantina

Bonsai Sushi

Cucina Del Capitano

The Taste Bar

The Steakhouse

Mongolian Wok

Signature dining – To name but a few !!

Lots of other new and exciting features to enjoy aswell such as  Playlist Productions which  takes tunes you know and puts them live on stage, transforming them into full blown musical productions featuring pro singers and dancers rocking the house. Enjoy the spicy sounds of Latin Nights or the know-them-anywhere favorites of  the Divas. Don’t forget Motor City, which will have you dancing in your seat.

Serenity Adult Retreat  is an adult only area available to guests 21 and older and features everything necessary to create the perfect tranquil “getaway within your getaway.” Take advantage of complete bar service provided by attentive waiters. Chill in the sun, under one of the colorful, oversized umbrellas or in the separate shaded area. Enjoy a dip in one of the whirlpools looking out over the great blue sea. All while listening to mellow music to keep the atmospeher serene.

This just touches on what the ship has to offer for a brilliant cruise.

I will be doing a short itinerary from Rome to Dubrovnik, a city I have always wanted to visit and I am so excited!
