Exciting News from Celebrity for 2015

Celebrity cruises have lots of exciting news for their 2015 programme, including news destinations and more evening and overnights in port.

One of the comments that clients are making more and more often is how the time in ports of call is being cut back, no doubt to save on port charges. arrival at 9am to depart at 3pm hardly gives time to get off and back onto the ship again.

So it is really good news that Celebrity Cruises have announced that, for their new 2015 programme,  on many cruises guests will have more overnight stays in ports of call along with new destinations and exciting events.

So many destinations completely change their character at night, Cannes being one of them, and Celebrity Equinox will overnight in Cannes during the star-studded Cannes Film Festival giving passengers a chance to mingle with the rich and famous along the beautiful Croisette.

By day

And by night

Celebrity Silhouette will overnight in Edinburgh, Scotland during the British Open. What an opportunity for golf enthusiasts, but also how many of us get chance to see all of our own country? Edinburgh is an especially lovely city and again the chance to see it at night is great.

Celebrity Equinox will enjoy overnight stays in two destinations widely recognized for their nightlife – the islands of Ibiza and Mykonos.

I have never visited Mykonos, but it is on my wish list, and Ibiza was the place I went to on my first ever holiday abroad! I stayed in the resort of Es Cana, it was really nice, sandy beaches, sunshine and nightlife. It was my only visit to Ibiza until a few years ago when I went on a cruise on the much loved, and missed, Ocean Village.

Ibiza Town was one of the ports of call. It was the end of October but the weather was lovely, sunshine and warm. I very quickly discovered that this is an island of two faces. Ibiza, on a cruise itinerary, somehow doesn`t seem quite right as all you can think of is nightlife and drunken Brits. There is another side to this island.

Walk up into the old town and you will see life as it really is on this lovely Balearic Island. Pretty buildings, quaint streets, lovely restaurants – a world away from the bars of San Antonio. Give the island a chance – you will be surprised, and a cruise  is one of the best ways to see it.
