Celebrity`s much awaited new ship Edge will start sailing at the beginning of December with 2 short cruises to the Bahamas from Fort Lauderdale. The ship is one of the most exciting arrivals for a while, and look very different to anything we have seen before.
This is what Celebrity have to say about her ” Celebrity Edge changes everything. The way you experience the world; the way you connect with the ocean; the way you play, dine and unwind at sea. Revolutionary on every level, she’s the ship that’s setting a new standard of luxury and innovation at sea. From the incredible Magic Carpet – the world’s first cantilevered, floating platform that reaches heights of 13 storeys above sea level – to the private plunge pools in our new Edge Villas; the way you cruise will never be the same again.”
I am a Celebrity fan ! Edge will be 129,500 tonnes and carry just over 2900 passengers so a really nice size, and definitely not a monster thank goodness.
So what will be the best new features on board? The Infinite Balcony cabins have to be a must, as the whole room becomes an extended balcony that reaches straight out to sea. Food, drink and entertainment will, of course, play a huge part in the ship`s success, she has an incredible 29 restaurants, bars and entertainment venues on board.
The Grand Foyer, stretching over three decks, will be the place to find the Speciality Restaurants, Cafe Al Bacio, The Martini Bar and the Grand Plaza Cafe. This will also be the place for impromptu entertainment throughout the day as the light from the huge chandelier changes to suit the mood.
The one thing I am dying to see is the Magic Carpet. The orange structure does look a bit odd on the side of the ship but it will be so different. Again Celebrity describe this so well
