Chocolate Heaven

Just before Christmas I went on the Oceana mini cruise to Bruges. It was a lovely trip, the sea was really calm and the rain stayed away whilst we were in port

Bruges is a lovely town and is like stepping back in time. The most delightful little city of canals and bridges, medieval Flemish architecture and  cobbled streets.

Often compared to Venice for its canals, Bruges also has a Florentine touch, evident in its Renaissance flamboyance thanks to a properous period in the 16th century. The Count of Flanders, one of the richest noblemen in the West, was based here in Bruges, and the town was a hub of commerce, with merchants from 34 different countries regularly trading here. Like Venice, Bruges is famous for its high quality lace, unlike Venice it is also famous for its chocolate.

I love chocolate and Belgian chocolate has to be among the best ever, especially at Christmas time. We wandered from shop to shop trying to choose the best Christmas chocolates, the smell is intoxicating, pure chocolate paradise, and came out loaded with lots of little goodies for Christmas! Oh well can go back to Slimming World in the New Year!

If you fancy a little bit of Belgian Chocolate for next year Oceana has a 4 night cruise going to Amsterdam and Bruges on 29th December 2013. There are still a few balcony cabins left so give me a call and we can get you booked on.
