My First Celebrity Experience

Last weekend I returned from a Cruise with Celebrity on  Eclipse to the Fjords. This was my first time sailing with Celebrity and I have to admit I was very impressed. From check in at Southampton to getting on the ship took around 20 minutes and we were welcomed on-board with a glass of Champagne which was a nice touch.

or, no shower curtain that sticks to you in the shower! There was plenty of storage space in the cabin too with a double wardrobe and plenty of drawer space. A large TV on the wall pulled out on a pivot so you could watch TV from the Bed. This also allowed you to check your on-board account and view excursions, what was happening around the ship and also watch a good selection of TV channels.

After the muster drill it was time to explore the ship and see what she had to offer. The Moonlight Sonata Dining room which is used for the Select and Dining was over 2 decks on Decks 3 and 4. This is a beautiful room with lots of Glass Chandeliers and very bright and airy.

There were 3 speciality dining options on board that have a cover charge, Qsine, Murano and Tuscan Grill. We booked Qsine for Monday night but I will tell you all about the dining experience in another blog. There is a cover charge for all of these but it is definitely worth it. These are all situated at the back of Deck 5 along with the Blu Restaurant which is exclusively for those on Aqua Class.

There’s also a well-stocked Library for people who like to read and relax while away and for the more energetic there is a fully equipped Gym, which I hasten to add I didn’t use!

The Theatre spanned over 3 decks, 3, 4 and 5 and had some amazing shows on over the week. The theatre company put on 3 shows, Topper which was fairy-tale  with Sir Stuart Peabody who had a collection of curious friends who lived in a big hat. This eccentric production featured lots of popular up to date songs.

“Amade” was the second show and this was a concert celebrating the progression of musical genres inspired by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This was remixed and reimagined and was definitely a bit different!

The 3rd show was Rock City which featured iconic Rock Anthems and featured the Eclipse cast.

The days  in-between these shows there also had Magicians, Comedians and The Flyrights who were 3 singers who performed Soul, Motown and Swing.

The best show was definitely saved for last night “Euphoria” by Les Farfadais. This was a breath taking performance of acrobatics and creative artistry.

There was also some lovely bar areas for a drink. Master Cellars on Deck 5 was a nice quiet Wine Bar and opposite this was the Martini Bar which was my favourite.Image may contain: people sitting, table and indoor.

The bar top is made of Ice and they had a great selection of Cocktails. We had the Classic Drinks Package included, which also included most Cocktails but for the other ones we only had to pay the difference in the cost and most were only $2 or $3 dollars extra.

The Ensemble Lounge was also a nice place for a drinks and there was always some entertainment going on in here too whether it be a pianist of one of the resident duo’s or bands that were on board.

The Sky Observation Lounge is a venue that hosted both daytime and evening entertainment. During the day there were quizzes and presentations and at night there was live music with a band or “DJ Lenny” would be spinning the decks.

Quasar hosted the Silent Disco and was open from 9.30 till late with over 18’s only being allowed entry after 11pm.

One of my favourite areas of the ship was the Lawn Club. We had exceptionally good weather  and it was lovely to be able to sit on the Lawn and have a cocktail or two and watch the amazing scenery as we sailed out of the Fjords.

X-Celerate Internet at Sea is also available onboard the ship but is a bit pricey. An unlimited Internet package was $249.00 and they offered 50% reduction for a second device. A 1 hour continuous package $24.95, 24 hour continuous package $49.00 and a 250 minute standard speed web browsing package was $99.

There is also a large casino which is open all day while the ship is at Sea. This stays open well into the small hours for those who like to have a late night flutter!

That was a  overview of what the ship has to offer and what my favourite bits were but next time I will be telling you all about the Beautiful Ports we visited and what we got up to there.  I will also tell you all about the dining experiences, but I’ll save that for later too!
