As the old saying goes, you learn something new everyday and while talking to a client the other day I did learn something new. The lady in question had been looking at a Princess cruise and like most people looking to book a cruise she had been doing some reasearching herself. Whilst  browsing on the princess website the lady had clicked on the tab that said “Why Princess” then “Learn about Princess” and came across a section called “Military Benefits Programme”. As her husband had served in the forces she was curious to see what this was about. When she looked at this section she was pleasantly suprised to find that any active personel, retired personel or honourably discharged personel are entitled to on board spending money on a Princess cruise and this amount varies depending on the length of the cruise.This is a great added benefit and one I wouldnt have known about had I not have had that conversion with my client.

Armed Forces Benefit for Veterans & Active/Retired Personnel

To thank the brave men and women of the British Armed Forces for their service, Princess Cruises offers up to $250 free onboard spending money* for veterans as well as active, retired or disabled military personnel. This special Armed Forces benefit is eligible on any cruise, any time of the year and can be used to purchase a wide variety of amenities and experiences including Lotus Spa treatments; dining in our speciality restaurants; gifts, jewelry and clothing in our onboard boutiques; and Princess Cruises shore excursions.

Military Benefits: Up to $250 Free Onboard Spending Money*

6 days or less $50 per person

*Free onboard money is in the form of an onboard credit. The onboard credit is converted to the operational currency onboard the vessel and is applied to the folio of the veteran or active duty personnel’s stateroom.

Military Benefit Application

To request this benefit, please download and complete the form  then submit together with a copy of the required proof of eligibility indicated below. Please ensure that documentation provided has the National Insurance Number crossed out. You can submit via email or mail:

Once approved, the onboard spending money will be automatically applied to any future cruise you book! This special benefit is available to you on any cruise and is combinable with other deals.

Applications to receive this benefit must be made no later than 14 days to cruise departure date. Requests will be handled within 7 days. Once your request has been processed, an updated Booking Confirmation will be forwarded to you or your travel agent. Onboard spending money can be applied before or after you have booked your cruise.

*Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced rate or complimentary basis are excluded.

Terms & Conditions

Offer is valid for eligible military personnel. Maximum of two onboard credit offers per stateroom. This offer cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities, discretionary hotel and dining charges. Onboard spending money is applied to the folio of the veteran or active duty personnel’s stateroom. Offer excludes Travel Agent and Interline fares. Offer is combinable with other Onboard Credit offers. Other restrictions may apply.

This program is available to active military, retired military and disabled military veterans with proper identification as outlined below.

Please ensure that documentation provided has the National Insurance Number crossed out.

  • Active personnel currently serving in the following service divisions: i – British Army, Royal Marines, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force or Reserves
  • Retired Personnel defined as A) enlisted personnel or officers with a minimum of 20 years of service, B) medically retired, or C) 100% disabled.
  • Veterans with an Honorable Discharge serving a minimum of 2 years or 6 months in an active war zone in any of the applicable service divisions listed above.

Required Proof of Eligibility

  • Active Personnel – Official Military identification
  • Retired Personnel – Appropriate proof of service issued by the MOD
  • Veterans with an Honorable Discharge serving a minimum of 2 years or 6 months in an active war zone, or an Educational Discharge if within 90 days of their normal separation date in any of the applicable service divisions listed above. Appropriate proof of service issued by the MOD.
