Christmas Conference 2016 “To be sure to be sure”
Last weekend was the Cruise.co.uk annual Christmas Conference on board the Fred Olsen Ship Boudicca, and what a conference it was. This is my 5th Conference and I have to say it gets better every year. Being a homeworker we don’t get to see our colleagues that often so this is a good time for us to get to see each other and meet new staff that we haven’t met before.
Some of us added a cheeky night on by having a night in Liverpool the night before so that we would be bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for embarkation at 11am the following morning!
Once we boarded this ship we had a lovely 3 course lunch in the Four Season Restaurant before the conference began. This started with a presentation by our directors and the was followed by presentations by some of our other cruise suppliers who were also onboard.
Thursday evening we had a 80’s themed night which was brilliant. All the staff were in fancy dress and really embraced the theme. There were people in 80’s gear but also a lot of costumes that were themed from things that were around in the 80’s, we even had our own Lady Di and Prince Charles.
The conference continued on Friday with a Christmas Jumper Day. Again we had presentations from suppliers and a few quizzes and games thrown in. I even won a cruise next year on the new ship MSC Meraviglia which I’m really looking forward too.
On Saturday we were let loose in Dublin which was great. We started the day with a City Tour on a really old Yellow Double Decker Bus and we had a fantastic tour guide who was really funny but then I could listen to that accent all day. We were taken around the city and went past all the well known sites including the Guinness factory. After the tour we were dropped off in Temple Bar where it would have been rude not to have sampled some of the local pubs and the great atmosphere with live music.
I have to say this has probably been my favourite Conference but then I say that every year so roll on 2017 and see what that brings!
