Is All Inclusive all too much for some ???

The cruise industry is always changing and evolving so lines and ships are bigger and better then there predecessor but the one thing that seems to be snowballing is the All Inclusive drinks offer.  The cruise lines have offered many special deals and discounts and incentives to book with them over the years but now that’s not enough to snare the customer so what better than to offer All inclusive drinks.  We have seen it with the land based holidays over the last few years where a big majority, especially families are booking all inclusive.  The increase and rises of charges for everyday life such as petrol, food, utility bills etc. mean people have to really watch the budget and a holiday may only be affordable if all the drinks are included.

With the likes of Fred Olsen’s , Msc , Celebrity ,Royal Caribbean and Thomson’s offering All inclusive or drinks packages is it just a matter of time before all cruise lines follow suit and it to become the norm.  While I personally think it is a fantastic idea, there are others that do not agree. I had a client who booked a Fred Olsen’s cruise when they were offering the first 100 bookings free all inclusive. He was happy with this and booked the cruise but then Fred’s extended the deal and offered it out to other clients booking.  My customer was very dismayed with this and was adamant that the cruise would be a disaster with everyone on board abusing this and stumbling about blind drunk and rowdy.  I disagreed with him and was said I was very confident that the clientele that book Fred’s are not the type to act in this way but he was of the opinion that Fred’s were making a big mistake and he wouldn’t be booking with them again.  I know from experience that drinks on certain ships can be very pricey, especially the American lines where they add on another 15% service charge. I went on a Royal Caribbean trip for two weeks.  I don’t have a huge amount to drink but like a glass of wine or two with dinner and the bill at the end of my holiday was quite hefty.  I think if the ship had been all inclusive then I would have been able to relax a bit more and not worry about what I was spending, which is the last thing you want to do on holiday.  I think that cruise holidays will not be damaged by this as people who cruise want to enjoy all aspects of it such as the food, the itinerary, the facilities etc.not just drink.  If they wanted to go on a 24hr bender then I’m sure a week in Ibiza would be first choice and not cruising!!!!!
