Norwegian cruise Lines have announced today that they are going into partnership with some of the very best ambassadors in the Food and Beverage industry as well as featuring some exciting new Entertainment experiences. At an event in New York It was revealed that the New Norwegian Escape with be showing two Award winning Musicals, ‘After Midnight’ and ‘The Million Dollar Quartet’ and will be introducing a new unique Supper Club.

The ship which is due to sail from Miami in November in 2015 will have culinary delights from the late James Beard’s Foundation and award winning chef Jose Garces, Miami restauranteurs Jose Mendin, Andreas Schreiner and Sergio Navarro and the ship will host new beverage concepts including the District Brewhouse featuring some award winning craft beers and fine wines from the cellars of the Michael Mondavi Family wine bar.

The ships will feature some of the established favourites like Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville but will be introducing new ideas to broaden its appeal.

The entertainment will include a unique 360° Post-modern Cabaret and dinner experience featuring classic soundtracks from well-known movies.

It could be argued that they are following in the footsteps of one of their largest competitors with a move to more specialist dining, Celebrity chefs and unique entertainment options, 360° cabaret or Two70°?  You be the judge.

Don’t get me wrong I love fine dining and one of the reasons I love City breaks is because of the huge choice of places to eat and unique experiences they offer. I am all for cruises offering a greater diversity of food and dining experiences but here’s a novel idea though! Perhaps cruise lines need to ask their customers what they want to see, hear and taste on-board then perhaps they would not waste millions of dollars developing something which is a mere novelty or copying each other because they don’t want to get left behind in the race.

If they bring in new concepts it should be for the right reasons.

To enhance the customer experience or broaden their horizons not just to keep up with the Jones.

On a positive note I can’t wait to see some of the menus and see what food and drink will be on offer.

Here are a selection of Dishes prepared by the Master Chef’s themselves.
