Starting from December 2015 MSC has revealed that it will be the first Mainstream Cruise Line to Home port in Havana Cuba.

With a choice of 16 Sailing dates the MSC Opera will take 2120 Guests on a Cuban Adventure throughout the winter season.

The new itinerary will give holidaymakers from around the world the opportunity to visit Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and Mexico with two nights and two and a half days in the Cuban capital.

This beautiful and vibrant city will not leaving you wanting. It has everything. the sights, the sounds the smells the tastes. A unique Culture and some truly amazing inhabitants.

Havana, the capital of Cuba, is the largest city in the Caribbean, and one of the most culturally rich urban centres in the world. It really does have something for everyone. From its glorious colonial past with an array of castles, cathedrals, mansions and museums to the historic neighbourhood of Vieja Habana (Old Havana). This is a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage site, with over 900 landmarks, including the Presidential Palace and Cathedral Square.

But Havana is so much more than its beautiful city and celebrated Culture. It is a Rhythm, a mood, a feeling that you have to be there to experience. Cuba’s love of music and dance spills out in clubs, cabarets and impromptu street-side salsas.

The city boasts some of the world’s best ballet schools and dance companies, and its theatre community is unrivalled in the Caribbean.

There are lively film and comedy clubs, art galleries that range from the eclectic (along the pedestrian-friendly Calle Obispo) to the expansive (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes) and bookstores everywhere. Havana is a city that both inspires and reveres its writers, poets and philosophers. No wonder the likes of Sir Ernest Hemingway put down roots here.

For the Sun Worshippers, Havana’s long, shimmering coastline offers nearly 15 km of excellent beaches and unspoiled coral reefs that can be admired both above and below the sea or for those seeking an urban oasis, Lenin Park’s 670 hectares of green space give you plenty of room to commune with nature.

To offer local ground services and shore excursions MSC Cruises will partner with Cubanacan, the Cuba-based group created more than 20 years ago known for its experienced professionals and high quality of service.

The first cruise will depart from Havana on December 22nd 2015, following MSC Opera’s Grand Voyage to Cuba from Genoa, departing on December 2nd 2015.

Gianni Onorato, chief executive, MSC Cruises, commented: “We are particularly proud to make this exciting new destination available to our guests.

The inaugural cruise will take place in less than six months from now,and is already proving very popular.

These sailings will be available for UK guests to book from Thursday July 9th.
