Love cruising on the big ships, well 2015 will not disappoint!

The cruise industry is growing year by year, and it seems the cruise lines are launching bigger and bigger ships. Personally having cruised on both  larger ships and smaller ships I have to say I do like the bigger ships. There is so much choice on board, so much to explore and it’s more like being in a resort than on board a ship!

You can choose from a large choice of restaurants and bars, impressive theatres and entertainment venues, large spas and state of the art gyms. A choice of cabins and suites that will leave you spoilt for choice. There is so much to explore and experience on a huge super liner you can see your ship almost as a port with so much to see and do.

Next year there are some amazing new ships launching. 2015 will certainly bring the battle of the big ships. Here are some of my highlights from the 3 super liners.

P&O will be launching Britannia, 141 000 tons, 3600 passengers, she will be the first to  launch in March 2015.

Britannia will feature a 94 metre Union Flag  displaying the longest version of the Flag anywhere in the world. This is being painted as we speak! Looks pretty impressive to me, what do you think?

You may have read about the Food Heroes, the 5 celebrity chefs who will feature on the ship. I booked a lady yesterday on one of the sailings that James Martin will be on…this was the main reason for choosing this date..her words were “he is my hero”…it made me smile as she was so excited about the prospect of James Martin cruising with her . The Food Heroes I think will be very popular with P&O guests both new and old time cruisers.  There will be cookery classes, demonstrations and even a chance to ask questions to your favourite celebrity chef.

There will be 13 bars and 13 restaurants to choose from! Wow…a different bar for every evening. One of my favourite places will certainly be the Eric Lanlard patisserie. Imagine all those delicious cakes and pastries.

Britannia will have the Oasis Spa & open deck retreat. This will be the most luxurious spa at sea for P&O and the retreat will be the perfect place to completely relax.

Royal Caribbean Cruises will launch the  Anthem of the Seas, 167, 800 tons, 4900 passengers, April 2015. This amazing ship is creating lots of excitement and has been so popular with families and couples alike.

There are so many activities to choose from on board Anthem….will you try the Rip Cord, a skydiving simulator at sea or will you choose the North Star, the viewing pod that will take you 300 feet above sea level! Photos look fantastic and I would love to try both. There will also be bumper cars or roller skating at Sea Plex. The choices are endless and if this sounds like your idea of fun then Anthem of the Seas is the ship to choose.

There will be endless choices of cabins on board including Virtual balcony cabins. An inside cabin with a balcony view! Sounds impressive doesn’t it? You will see a real time view of the outside of the ship projected into your cabin.

Dynamic dining will be one of the highlights on board Anthem of the Seas. No more traditional first or second seating, instead a choice of 18 restaurants including both complimentary and those where you will pay a charge. I am a fan of this concept as I love the flexibility and choice this will provide. It will be like eating out at a new restaurant every night.

Norwegian Cruise lines will launch the Norwegian Escape in October 2015, 163 000 tons, 4200 passengers. The ship is at the moment under construction in Germany and after taking a look at some photos I am very impressed.

NCL Escape ship

Escape will be the sister ship to the Norwegian Bliss, and together they will be the largest ships in the fleet. On board there will an extended Haven area including 55 Suites. Guests booking one of these suites will be able to relax in the courtyard area where there will be a retractable pool, a 2 whirlpools and a sun deck. There will be luxurious suites to choose from including Spa suites.

With the success of the Studio accommodation for Solo travellers, the Norwegian Escape will have 82 cabins and solo travellers will have an their own lounge. I know this is always very popular, no huge single supplements and also a place to meet other solo passengers.

So what do you think? Are you excited about the launch of any of these ships next year? I know I am!

Personally I would like to take the Haven from the Norwegian Escape, the Food Heroes from Britannia and the amazing facilities on board the Anthem of the Seas and put them all together! What you would choose from each ship?

Are big ships a hit with you, or do you prefer the smaller ships?

I would love to hear your views
