Our time on MSC Preziosa

So, me, my wife and children have recently returned from a week on board MSC’s Preziosa. With MSC being one of the cruise lines I have never experienced, I was quite excited to experience what MSC has to offer as I am forever being asked my thoughts on the rapidly growing Italian cruise line. I’m very pleased to say, I was not disappointed.

Starting with the ship itself. It was stunning! Within minutes of being on board, my eldest daughter made the statement ‘this is fancy!’ which is teenage talk for ‘this is lovely.’ All of the social areas were beautifully decorated and really well planned, although with all large cruise ships I spent a decent chunk of the week getting confused as to where I was.

From the outside, the ship did not look particularly exciting, but they definitely make up for it once you step onboard. Our first stop after embarking was to go up to the pool deck to see where we would no doubt be spending the majority of our week, especially as we picked the perfect week to travel, with Northern Europe having a heatwave the temperature did not drop below 26!! Our youngest daughter loved the splash pool and we set up camp at the rear of the ship where we could keep an eye on the little one and head down one flight of stairs to the infinity pool at the aft of the ship and one of the pool bars. Perfect.

The 2 things I was wanting to experience most were the food and the entertainment. These are the 2 areas that people most like to have a moan about from experience. The food in the buffet restaurant was plentiful and the selection was great. The fresh pizza was to die for and there was always a decent selection of other world foods as well as always popular burgers and hot dogs. There was different meat on the carvery every day and the food was kept at a decent temperature. I think when people have moaned about the food being cold, it may be due to just how big the restaurant is, the only time my food got cold was when I did the full lap around the buffet restaurant in case I was missing something.

I will post more about the main dining, entertainment and cabin in my next blog. For the time being, I will be happily recommending the Preziosa!!
