Grin & Bare it!!!

This week the social networking outlets have been sent into overdrive with one thing dominating new feeds everywhere, #nomakeupselfies.  Ladies have been posting bare-faced pictures for all to see in a bid to raise money for the charity, along with the hashtag #nomakeupselfie and a text message receipt as evidence of their £3 donation. With this they then nominate a selection of their friends to do the same all in aid of  Cancer research.

More than 800,000 text contributions have poured in since Cancer Research UK began sharing their “No make-up selfies” raising a staggering £1 million in just 24 hours, and this phenomenon doesn’t seem to be slowing down either.

Along with the thousands including many celebrities including Kim Marsh, Holly Willoughby and Michelle Heaton,  I too have donated to this fantastic charity and my #nomakeupselfie is a small price to pay for the great work this trend is doing!!! So keep it up ladies.

So with this is mind I thought I would look at 2 charities we support at cruise.co.uk. U Legend is particularly special to us because is was set up by and keep running in the memory of Andrew Wheddon who worked at cruise.co.uk.  All monies raised by U Legend go the Sarcoma Cancer Charity appeal. http://www.justgiving.com/ulegend. In the past we have run numerous fund raising days including “A day to remember” where staff dressed up as famous legend in memory of Drew.

The second is Rebens Retreat, who provide support and bereavement counselling for families who have lost their precious children. Over the years events such as the Bupa Half Marathon in Birmingham and cruise.co.uk Bake off have played a big part in raising money for this amazing charity and the work they do at http://www.reubensretreat.org/

The next planned charity event being planned will be a Cruise.co.uk “Calendar Girl” style calendar for 2015, which sounds to  me like we all have more to worry about then a bare face!!! I will keep you posted.
