Build and Scrap in Genoa

So the Costa Concordia is finally in an upright position again. Being towed to Genoa to be scrapped and at a cost of millions. I personally don’t see why it took them so long to salvage the ill-fated Concordia. With today’s technology and advanced engineering I just think it should have been done ages ago.

The Italian Prime Minister turns up to say thank you to everyone for doing what people thought was impossible. Am I missing something here? It was a sunken ship, why would it have been impossible to salvage? Ok the Titanic still at the bottom of the Atlantic and has been there for over 100 years so that I can would be very difficult to raise as it would probably disintegrate and crumble apart if tried to move her. The Concordia should have been salvaged a long time ago

. It was a tragic accident and who know what will happen in the trial of the Captain Francesco Schettino.

Was he right to leave the ship? That’s another story and time will tell. When the accident first happened I thought that’s it everyone will want to cancel their cruises, but this hasn’t happened. I’d like to see Cost build a replica of the Concordia and let her sail again. The Concordia was built in Genoa and she’s going to be scrapped there. Do something else amazing and rebuild her.
